A couple people suggested that my high idling 88 4Runner 4 cyl EFI could be due to a vacuum leak. How should I go about checking for one and when I find it, how do I fix it? If this is too much to explain, is there someone I can call/a website I can go to.
Answers:
1A vacuum leak big enough to race the engine should be easy enough to hear. A loud hissing sound could be traced with a piece of hose with one end to your ear. Maybe the throttle cable is binding or too tight. Or possibly the IAC (idle control valve) is bad. Bring it by my shop if you live in North Idaho.
